Niche Items Address Self-Treatment Trend "The segment also is being driven by the expanding self-treatment trend which is prompting retailers to devote more space to the foot care category, according to Bradley Marsh, chief executive officer of Tripod Labs Inc." "Their dominating presence, however, has not deterred others from vying for retailers' and consumers' attention. For example, Tripod Labs, which was founded by three podiatrists, in introducing six items to the retail market. They are designed to treat such foot problems as dry skin, athlete's foot and muscle pain. The items have been available through doctors' offices for two years, Marsh notes, adding that they feature a blend of the most powerful traditional medicines and the purest herbal extracts, and that they are effective, safe, easy to use and economical." "'We are not the first to introduce herbal extracts to foot care,' he notes,'but we are the first to offer a complete line of herbal-based foot-care products.' According to Marsh, the best-selling item in the line is Nailstat, which is used to treat fungal nails." |
